CNN Insights on Technology and the Defence Industry

CNN Insights "Technology & Defence Industry: Opportunities and Challenges for Greece" took place with the Minister of National Defence, Mr. Nikos Dendias, as the keynote speaker and the participation of leading figures from the defence and technology industries.

During the event, participants discussed the challenges and opportunities emerging for the domestic defence industry, emphasising that the Greek Armed Forces must turn to new technologies, while gaining a competitive advantage on the international stage.

Mr. Dendias highlighted that the shift of the Armed Forces towards new technologies is one of the key pillars of the Ministry of National Defence’s "Agenda 2030".

From his perspective, Mr. Christian Hadjiminas, Founder & CEO of Theon Group, stressed that the goal is to enhance the extroversion of the Greek defence industry. Meanwhile, Mr. Konstantinos Karantzalos, Secretary General of Telecommunications & Post, emphasised the technology sector's role in the country’s defence industry.

Additionally, Mr. Pantelis Tzortzakis, CEO of the Hellenic Centre for Defence Innovation SA (HCDI) spoke about the role and significance of HCDI, while participants also focused on the utilisation of digital technologies by the Greek Armed Forces and the Greek innovations regarding the defence and space industry.

The event took place on Monday, May 5, at Aigli Zappeiou and is part of the CNN Insights series organised by CNN Greece, highlighting and thoroughly covering pressing current issues. The event was broadcast live via the CNN Greece website.
